HENRI ROUSSEAU

1844 – 1910 · France

He painted the world's most convincing jungles without ever leaving Paris. Every tiger, every rainforest, every moonlit exotic scene conjured from botanical gardens and natural history museums. His contemporaries laughed. Picasso eventually threw him a banquet. He died largely unrecognised. Today his paintings are priceless.

A framed fine art print of Henri Rousseau's Virgin Forest With Sunset

HENRI ROUSSEAU

He painted the world's most convincing jungles. He never left Paris.

A self-taught customs officer who only began painting seriously in his forties, Rousseau created every lush jungle, every prowling tiger, every moonlit exotic scene entirely from visits to the Paris botanical gardens and natural history museums. His contemporaries initially laughed. Picasso eventually threw him a banquet - though whether it was mockery or homage remains delightfully unclear. He died in 1910 largely unrecognised. Today his paintings are priceless.

Pure imagination, executed with total conviction. Rousseau's prints are unlike anything else on a wall.

Privileged Prints: Museum-quality. Sustainably made. Unapologetically bold.
