ABOUT US
Hi, I'm Beverley, and I'm the founder of Privileged Prints. For too long, I've hidden behind the scenes, but it's time to tell you the real story of how this little art print business came to be.
It wasn't a business plan. It was survival.
In 2019, I made what felt like the bravest (or most foolish) decision of my life - I decided to start completely fresh. I'd become single, my nest was empty, and I was coming to terms with a chronic illness diagnosis. So I found this gorgeous flat with incredible potential and moved in at the end of November 2019.
I made a practical decision: paint everything white to make it look clean for Christmas family photos. The real decorating could wait until the New Year. Nobody could have imagined what 2020 would bring.
I'd left behind 90% of my furniture - after all, a fresh start can't come with memories of an old life, right? The plan was simple: spend January shopping for furniture, adding colour, creating the home I'd always dreamed of.
Then lockdown hit.
Suddenly, I was trapped in a white-walled flat with minimal furniture and no way to go shopping. No browsing homeware stores, no weekend trips to find the perfect pieces. Just me, four white walls, and the strangest circumstances anyone could have predicted.
That's when art saved me.
When you can't buy furniture, can't add colour through cushions or curtains, art becomes everything. Each piece I created wasn't just decoration - it was proof that I could build something beautiful from nothing, even when the world felt impossible.
I painted because I needed colour in my life. I painted because those white walls felt too much like giving up. I painted because creating something - anything - felt like the only way forward.
What started as survival became passion. What began as filling my own walls became wanting to help others do the same. Yes, my son Alex was there for those early conversations about turning this into something bigger, but the truth is, the dice had already been rolled by then. This was always my story, my journey, my need to create beauty against all odds.
Against all odds - a global pandemic, personal upheaval, chronic illness, and four empty white walls - art became my lifeline.
Today, every print in our collections carries that same spirit - the belief that art isn't just decoration, it's hope made visible. We believe art should be accessible to everyone, printed with the highest quality materials (archival pigment inks from Canon on sustainable Hahnemühle paper), and delivered with care for both you and our planet.
Privileged Prints wasn't born from a business plan. It was born from the most human need of all - to create beauty and meaning, even when everything feels uncertain.
Especially when everything feels uncertain.
Thank you for being part of this journey that started with empty walls and endless possibility. Every time someone transforms their space with our prints, I think of those white walls in 2020. We're all still creating beauty from whatever we have.
Creating beauty against all odds,
Beverley 🌿
