about Hilma af Klint

Before Kandinsky. Before Mondrian. Before the art world had even invented a name for what she was doing, Hilma af Klint was already there.

This Swedish visionary was painting pure abstraction in 1906, guided by what she described as spiritual messages, translating the invisible into vivid, swirling compositions of circles, colour, and energy. The Ten Largest series was her attempt to capture the arc of human life itself, from childhood's exuberant chaos to the quiet of old age. She was decades ahead of her time and she knew it. So much so that she stipulated her work shouldn't be shown publicly until at least 20 years after her death.

The art world eventually caught up. We'd argue it still hasn't fully caught up.

Now considered the mother of abstract art - and an absolute BOSS  Hilma af Klint's revolutionary vision is finally getting the recognition it always deserved. This print brings that vision home.
